Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the characteristics of military goggle and a insert frame provided to ametropic solders, and to analyze visual problem that could occur in the combined state. In order to minimize the visual problems, a milti-functional unit(MFU) insert frame was manufactured. Through this, it was intended to contribute to the improvement of vision of ametropic soldiers.
Methods : We measured size(lens insert, bridge and front, vertex distance) and angle(faceform and pantoscopic) of the insert frame with military goggle before and after combination. 3D scanning and printing were used to make the MFU insert frame of bioresin material. In addition, we investigated high and low contrast corrected visual acuity and subjective satisfaction of 37 ametropic soldiers(21.08¡¾0.89years).
Results : The insert frame of combination state showed the largest vertex distance, faceform angle and pantoscopic angel than the MFU insert frame with 18.17¡¾0.24 mm, 20.17¡¾0.24¡Æ, 10.17¡¾0.24¡Æ, respectively. Overall satisfaction of the MFU insert frame(3.30¡¾1.22points) was higher than Insert frame(2.24¡¾1.09points), showing that significant difference was founded(p£¼0.050).
Conclusion : The MFU insert frame producted in this study would be expected to improve visual acuity and satisfaction of ametropic soldiers.
